A short history of growth and continuity
1997
Beginning of pharmacy education
Kumaun University took the initiative in 1997 to begin the pharmacy course at the undergraduate level, with the objective of serving one of the remotest and difficult hilly terrains of the region.
Temporary setup at Nainital
The department initially functioned from the Chemistry PG Block at Nainital before moving toward a more established academic setup.
2004
Shift to Bhimtal campus
In October 2004, the department shifted to Bhimtal, where it continued to grow in academic scope, infrastructure, and institutional presence.

Broader academic and professional reach
The department now offers postgraduate study in multiple disciplines along with Ph.D. opportunities in various pharmaceutical domains, reflecting its academic maturity and long-term development.
